Greetings I bring from Northern Uganda. It has been a while since I posted, and so much has happened that I honestly don’t even know where I would start. So instead, I am going to give you a new playlist. Here in Acholiland, we find any reason to party. Hey, it’s Monday night? Let’s go to BJz. But really, people here know how to have a good time. And the music is amazing. Maybe not for all of you hipsters out there—I don’t know how you would handle having to shake your butt to all the dance hall that is played, but trust me, it’s a riot. The music ranges from Jamaican dance hall, to Ugandan reggae, to African hip hop, European Techno, and a ridiculous amount of American pre-teen pop. Seriously, if you could only understand how often “Call Me Maybe” is played… If you stay at BJz late enough, and I mean late enough that it’s just you and the DJ, you hear all the Kendrick Lamar and 2Chainz that you want.
So below are some songs, I would call them BJz top ten. (The first three are my favorites).
“Never Never”
“Stay With Me”
“Cheater’s Prayer”
“Swimming Pools”
“We a hustle”- Conscience
“Drunk in love”- Beyonce
“Naku penda piya”- Alaine and Wyre
“Dyedye”- Macka Diamond
“Call Me Maybe”
“Slippery When Wet”
“Amaso”- Weasel and Radio
“Frontline”- Peter Miles
“Wake Me Up”- Avicii
